I wanted to support a local business, but unfortunately my experience with Built to Last was disappointing. I placed an order on April 29 and was told the lead time would be 4–6 weeks. I was also told to expect a follow-up email with my order sheet, but that email never arrived. After waiting three weeks, I had to call and request the order information myself. At the four-week mark, I contacted the company to ask for an estimated production or delivery date. I was given a vague response that my order was "in production" and told that someone would reach out to coordinate delivery. No one ever did. When the six-week mark arrived and I still hadn't heard anything, I contacted them again. That's when I was informed they were actually out of the materials needed for my order and that production had not progressed as I had previously been led to believe. This directly contradicted the information I had been given earlier. The only positive part of this experience was that they immediately offered a full refund. However, the lack of communication and inaccurate updates throughout the process made it impossible to have confidence in the order. I prefer supporting local businesses whenever possible, but experiences like this make it easy to understand why many customers choose larger companies with better communication and order transparency. I ended up purchasing a similar outdoor furniture set from Polywood online instead. Buyer beware—if timelines and honest communication are important to you, you may want to consider other options.

I’m not sure which chairs we have, I think they are now called the bar chair with the extended step? When I bought ours I think they were called dolphin watch? I cannot brag about this furniture enough. No, I am not paid to advertise this. I’ve owned the set of chairs for at least 12 years. They sat in the blistering sun all year in NC (yes, on our back porch, uncovered facing full sun). Five years ago we moved to Alaska and they’ve spent at least one full year outdoors, including our first winter with -20° F weather, 100 mile an hour winds and 140 inches of snow (we kept the chairs brushed off as much as we could), without any damage whatsoever (but we still decided maybe we should bring them in for winter after that and not chance it 😉 I’m just now getting them out of the shop to put them back on the deck for summer and I was thinking, man, these chairs are so freaking Awesome, I can’t believe how well they have held up and I’m gonna post a review! There is no rust on anything, there is no fading in the color (we have the teal), no damage and they are just as sturdy as when we bought them. I love love love these chairs. And they are sooooo comfy. We’ll be moving back down South next year and I’ve already decided we will definitely be taking these chairs anywhere we go, so leaving the antique side table but taking the beach chairs haha;) and looking forward to buying the little table to go in between (even though the armrest are way big enough to set a drink on, still thought a cupholder or some extra space for a book or something would be nice too, so we’ll be by to get the table once we move back!).
